Tarantula & Scorpion

One of Britain’s largest tropical houses containing not only hundreds of exotic butterflies and birds flying freely, but also a display of reptiles. You can admire everything from a Caiman to Chameleons and Tropical Frogs to Tree Snakes.

Visit the incredible Ant Room and see the Tropical Leaf Cutting Ants at work. The Insect Gallery contains a creepy display of Scorpions, Tarantulas, Giant Millipedes and much more.

The Lincolnshire Birds of Prey Centre includes 'Liberty', the huge American Bald Eagle and 'Nutty' the Black Vulture, who both feature in our flying displays at 12 noon and 3pm every day. (September 8th - End of Season 2pm only.)

New! Activity Sheets

We have created some 'activity sheets' which can be downloaded and printed out. These are intended to be a fun way of 'getting kids interested' and could possibly be included in a lesson plan.

Indoor Tropical House

Butterfly

Containing exotic butterflies and birds flying free, our reptile collection, a separate Ant Room containing leaf-cutting ants and an Insect Gallery.

The Lincolnshire Birds of Prey Centre

The park has a collection of aviaries where you can see 'Liberty', the huge American Bald Eagle and 'Nutty' the Black Vulture, who both feature in our flying displays. In total, we have over thirty birds of prey in our collection for you to visit.

Tropical Bird Aviary & Animal Centre

New for 2008, our walk-through aviary has a wide selection of tropical soft billed birds, parakeets and love birds.

Our undercover picnic areas are available for schools to use and you will be allocated space in these if the weather is bad. Alternatively, schools are welcome to picnic anywhere in the Park with the exception of the Tearoom and the picnic tables on the Tearoom lawn. These are reserved for Tearoom customers.

Ice creams, refreshments and gifts can be bought on the day. Alternatively, schools are welcome to order these at least one week in advance using our Gift Bag order form, available on request. Unfortunately, individual pupil orders can no longer be ordered in advance.

Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)

The Park’s aim is to be fully compliant with the provision of the DDA. The management welcomes further suggestions from visitors who can identify other items we may have overlooked. We aim to be compliant with the provisions of the DDA.

New Play Area

New for 2008; Adventure playground with lots for children to do. There is a children’s driving circuit containing a variety of cars tractors, lorries and diggers, and a giggleswick climbing frame, the aerial slide is new and fantastic fun, the fort and the climbing wall to try.

New adventure play area

The school prices apply to visits from schools, pre-schools, playgroups, youth groups and other children’s groups with a minimum of ten persons.

Tropical House Guided Tour

A guided tour of the Tropical House is included in the ticket price. Given the interactive elements of this tour it may not be suitable for children under the age of five.

Typically the tour lasts approximately 30 minutes. These rates are subject to payment being made in advance by cheque or credit card. A receipt is given on the day of the visit.

Birds of Prey Flying Displays

American Bald Eagle

These take place at 12 noon and 3.00pm from 15th March to 7th September, subject to weather conditions*. From 8th September until 2nd November, there is only one daily display at 2.00pm. The display lasts approximately half-an-hour and there is no extra charge for this.

* In high winds or rainfall conditions, large birds of prey are unable to fly or be controlled and as a result, the park reserves the right to cancel any displays in the interests of the public and birds safety.

Adventure Play Area & Driving Circuit

New for 2008, our adventure play area complete with toddler activities is just the place to blow off some steam. Built from sustainable resources and fully compliant with European Safety Standard BSEN1176 try out our 40-metre Aerial Runway and giant Tower.

Also New for 2008 is our exciting Driving Circuit and Digger Land offering a wide range of vehicles to test drive.

The Ornamental Butterfly Gardens

These gardens attract a wide range of native butterflies in the summer.

Code of Conduct

In return for the allocation of free adult places, the Park expects all children to be adequately supervised at all times. This applies particularly to the Tropical House, the Gift Shop, the play area and during the flying displays. Unaccompanied children are not allowed in the Tropical House.

Risk Assessment & Other Info

Information for Group Leaders

Teachers and Group Leaders are welcome to pay a preliminary visit to the Park, free of charge, in preparation for their visit. We would recommend that any new visitors take advantage of this. A summary of the Park’s own risk assessment will shortly be available on our website and will assist teachers in undertaking their own school risk assessment.

An emergency First Aider is on site but school groups are recommended to bring a qualified First Aider. There is ample coach parking on site.
